Girls
Gone Gospel
Hellfire and brimstone sermons are
usually associated with gospel music, but not on Saturday August 23 at the Town
Hall in York when music fans will get the opportunity to hear some of Perth’s
finest singers come together to offer simply classic gospel songs laced with
sweet harmonies.
Songs such as Amazing Grace, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, Peace in The Valley made famous by Patsy
Cline, Jim Reeves and the likes will be re-born with the soaring vocals of
accomplished female vocalists Connie Kis
Andersen, Vicki Lee, Karen Rudge and Tracie Redding.
Gracing the stage too is male
vocalist Denny Collier from the very
popular, iconic show band, Frisco who
will be backing the singers and playing dance music after the show.
Brendon T Moylan, well known to Perth country music
fans as the Presenter from Curtin Radio’s, Born in Boots will be there as
MC.
And as for the Girls Gone Gospel …
audiences will be enchanted with performances by;
Vicki Lee … who was recently awarded Best Country Female Vocalist and Best West Australian Gospel Vocalist at the 2008 W.A. Country Music Awards, held at Boyup Brook.
She is also recognised
as the front singer for the band Southbound.
Karen Rudge … an accomplished musician in her
own right, having had early formal training in the UK playing Sax,
Clarinet. For over 10 years, Karen
fronted the bands Sistermatic and Missbehavin, wowing Perth audiences with
their fabulous shows and memorable harmony arrangements that were likened to the
Andrew Sisters.
Tracie Redding … No stranger to the stage, this
singer /songwriter has opened for acts such as Kate Ceberano and Gangajang. She has graced the stage in award winning
musicals and fronted bands at a national level.
Tracie’s greatest passion is songwriting and her tunes are attracting
interest internationally.
Connie Kis Andersen … awarded the 2008 Best Independent Country Music Album
WA for her current album and in 2006 as the Best Country Female Vocalist WA. Having had chart success on the Australian
Top 30 Country and interest in her music is the US, Connie Kis tours the East
Coast and the USA regularly. When in
Perth, she fronts the duo, Kis’n
Tel.
